A hummingbird in the USA

The story of a French woman expatriate who navigates in a new country to keep her sustainable and eco-friendly life. expatriée qui tente de préserver son mode de vie durable et respectueux de l’environnement.

My name is Delphine and in 2013, I left France to live in the United States. Goodbye Paris extravaganza, welcome New York hugeness. After my first visit to NYC, I swore to never come back to this city so densely, so noisy… so far removed from my vacation landscapes ; more natural.

My parents taught me to live with nature from a young age. I spent my weekends in the woods picking mushrooms, running in the meadow, jumping with my rainy boots in the rivers, observing the flora and fauna.

I was affected early on by the damage caused by humans ... I still remember the campaign to reduce the hole in the ozone layer. First warning that human life is fragile if we do not take care of our Planet.

So affected that I have dedicated my personal but also professional life to the environmental cause. After having studied biology and obtained a Master degree in environmental management, I collaborated to implement and deploy renewable energy for a public landlord. I already know I am lucky to have been able to work for a cause that was close to my heart.

And one day, it was a turn of fate that sent you far from a life that looked perfect to you. Hard to leave behind family, friends, your native country … references ... We must learn to live through a culture that is close but not that much.

Years later, no regrets. I am the mother of two beautiful daughters and I continue to do my part to preserve our environment. I encountered some difficulties but life is made of beautiful surprises.

With this blog, I want to share my observations, my favorites, my tips, to help you, like me, in your ecological expatriation.

Bienvenue and follow me on my "eco-friendly" adventure.
